LES PAUL 50'S WIRING HARNESS WITH BUMBLEBEE CAPS

This wiring was used in the first Les Pauls until the end of the fifties. Below you can find a summary of the differences between 50's and Modern Wiring. The kit is suitable for humbuckers as well as P-90 pickups.Details:

What's the difference between Gibson 50's vs. Modern Wiring?

50's Wiring

• when turning down the Volume more heights are remaining
• a turn of the Tone also affects the Volume
• with the Volume fully turned up there's a little more clarity and output

Modern Wiring

• better Volume control
• turning the Tone does not change the Volume
• significant loss of height when turning down the Volume (can be reduced with a Treble Bleed)

WHICH POTS AND WHICH SWITCH IS THE RIGHT ONE?

There are countless Les Paul models, and there are always more. In the different models different toggle switches and pots are used. All LP models with curved top until 1977 have short pots and a long toggle switch. For the most common models since 1977 we have compiled a small overview below. To mount the long switch in the Les Paul you also need a "Deep Round Nut". The Deep Round Nut extends the otherwise too short thread of the switch, and must be ordered separately.
