The Carparelli T-Style ’50s Wiring Control Plate brings the familiar ’50s-style tone connection to your T-style guitar, with Emerson Premier pots and an Emerson tone capacitor at the heart of the assembly.

With ’50s-style wiring, the tone circuit connects to the volume pot’s output. This can help retain treble as you turn the volume down, making it a useful option for players who use their guitar’s controls to move between cleaner rhythm sounds and fuller lead tones. The volume and tone controls interact: turning down the tone can also affect volume, particularly with the volume already reduced.

This is a ’50s-style tone-circuit modification for a T-style guitar, rather than a recreation of early Telecaster dark-circuit switching.

Choosing your setup
250K pots are a common starting point for traditional single-coil pickups. 500K pots are commonly used with humbuckers or where less pickup loading is desired. Mixed pot values are available to suit your pickup combination and preferences.

The 0.047 µF capacitor generally allows a deeper treble roll-off near the bottom of the tone control; 0.022 µF is a popular choice for a less dark fully rolled-off sound. Your pickups and the rest of the circuit also influence the result.

For a humbucker/single-coil mix, the optional 470KΩ resistor can tailor the loading of the single-coil circuit. Tell us your pickup models and selected switching so the modification can be configured appropriately. Its effect depends on the pot values and switch position; it is not a coil-split modification.

Switching options
The CRL 3-way provides bridge, both pickups in parallel, and neck selection.

The Carparelli 4 Way option adds a both-pickups-in-series sound for a fuller response, alongside the usual bridge, parallel and neck sounds. Pickup wiring must be suitable for series operation. A covered Tele-style neck pickup typically requires its cover ground to be separated from the coil ground. Please contact us about your pickup leads if you are unsure.

Fit and installation
Please check your control plate mounting pattern and control cavity clearance before ordering, including space for the switch and capacitor. T-style guitars vary; fit is not universal. Knobs must match the selected pot shafts.

The assembly is prewired, but pickup and instrument ground connections still require soldering. Existing jack mounting hardware must also be compatible. Pickups and guitar are not included.
